Tartans

What does the Austin tartan look lie?

Austin Clan tartan

Austin Clan History

It would be fair to state that the origins of this clan and tartan are a little unclear. The Austins were supporters of the Clan Keith (and later appear to be a Sept) and appear to wear, either, the same tartan or one which is so close it is difficult to differentiate. In addition there has been considerable variation in the spelling of the name and earliest forms, including Oisteane, Oustene, Owystyn and Ousteane, may be derived from the Gaelic name Uisdean add to the confusion.
